Hi,

I need to have the function of downloading applications from my company website. I want to be able to give a link to my customers and for them to be able to download the .exe or .dmg file. Is this possible in iWeb?

I am using iWeb'09 on Snow Leopard 10.6.2.

Many thanks for you input,

Nigel

If you're getting the application files on to the server by means other than iWeb, then iWeb should be able to provide the link. I don't have any experience with iWeb but these generic instructions should point you in the right direction:

  1. First you need to create a page, for our purposes I'll call it Downloads.
  2. Then you need to put any instructions for your customers on what to do with the file once it's downloaded on the page.
  3. Then you need to put a line of text that will become the download link, such as Application One, Application Two, etc.
  4. Select Application One so it's highlighted and then you should have the ability to make it into a link. This might be in a menu or a palette in iWeb. For the link, you want to give it the full and complete link to Application One, such as http://www.mycompany/downloads/applicationone.exe

In addition to the text Application One, you could also include the icon of Application One or a screen shot also linked to the download file. Hope this helps.
