I have a G3 Blue/White that I added a Pioneer A05 DVD-R drive to. I have some movies that I made with iMovie, that I would like to create a DVD of.

I know that iDVD doesn't work with my G3, so what are my other options???????

Because iDVD requires a G4 processor. Besides, you probably wouldn't want to do mpg2 encoding with a G3 because it'd take you a week to do it.

Anyways, I've heard that CapDVty (or something like that) will work with a G3.

THANKS!

I hope this is easier than Sizzle looks! (I haven't tried it though.)

Does this CapyDVD require a serial number or anything?

Thanks again for the link!

Here's another question!

If I take my 26 minute MOV file and go through all of the trouble of converting it to work on a DVD player, will I lose picture quality, like a VCD does?

I have a 4.7 gig Pioneer A05 DVD-R/RW drive.

Thanks for any replies!

No. A 4.7 gig disc fits 1 hour without any extra compression. Meaning pure DVD quality.

Oh good, that's what I thought but I wanted to be sure!

I plan on getting a G5, but not before Christmas. I hope the 2nd generation will be out by then!

Working with movies is the ONLY thing that makes my G3 feel SLOW!

Thanks! :D

Sorry irmongoose, didn't mean to upset you!

I'm a little nervous getting one of the '1.0' versions of the new G5s! But I'm EXCITED! :)

Yep, I am very excited! I'll have to find something to keep my b/w G3 busy now. It's too pretty to part with! ;-)

I first considered the 1.6, then after I upgraded what I wanted it was about the same price as the 1.8, which was only $500 less than the 2x2 once I upgraded it! So I bit the bullet and went all out. I hope it'll get me at least one extra year out of it!

It should be good for movie stuff at least! ;-)

Okay, I was able to do a DVD on my G3, but it took 36 hours to convert my 26 minute movie.

I got my Dual G5, stock machine. It took under an hour for the same movie!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, that's more like it!
