I am sure the solution is going to be dead obvious, but here goes:

We are creating an interactive PDF form in Adobe Acrobat 7.
All goes well and fields etc are working nicely. But when we open the PDF form in Adobe Reader you are only allowed to Print while Save is disallowed. So you end up with a document where you can edit the fields, but you are not able to save a copy (Only print). Seems such a simple thing to do.
We have enabled and experimented with the security settings but all to no avail.

Now, it seems Adobe offers "LiveCycle Reader Extensions" which might do the trick. But it is only available for Windows and of course comes at extra ££.

Any ideas would be greatly valued. :)

I don't think you can save a completed PDF form from Reader with Acrobat 6 or 7... I've been down this route many times before at work. It seems to be geared towards extracting the data immediately and integrating it with a database rather than storing the data with the document.

After days of messing around and researching options, we gave up on the process and put a web-based form up instead.

There's a reason it's called Reader; they want you to get Acrobat Standard. ;)

However, if the PDF is created in Acrobat 8 you can:

Enable form features in Adobe Reader
Enable users of Adobe Reader software* to type information directly into Adobe PDF forms and save them locally for offline use.†

If they've got Reader 7 or 8, that is...

I knew you'd come to my rescue. :)

Ah well, Acrobat 8 it'll have to be then. Thanks again, much appreciated.
