macOS creating an online installer?

I just recently looked at PackageMaker.app and it looks pretty interesting.

Is there any way to make such an installer into an online installer?

i.e. have the installer download the different packages in the installer from the internet?

"Additional Fonts" (http://www.example.com/addfonts.zip)
"Additional Plugins" (http://www.example.com/addplugs.zip)

Would that be possible? (download + unzipping, instead of just decompressing from the .pkg)

I'm pretty sure that, unless you're using something like WebStart, you'll need to user to download and then launch an installer, esp. since many users have browsers set up to not auto-launch apps. However, nothing stops your installer app from pulling its files off the web once launched, though.

yes, of course I mean that the installer itself should download the individual packages the user selects to install during the installation process.

so he downloads my installer.pkg or whatever, runs it, and selects the different packages he wants to install. the installer then downloads these packages and installs them.

so instead of downloading a 500MB installer with a minimum installation weighing in at 20MB, and maximum at 500MB, he downloads a 200kb installer and selects what packages to download, downloading a total of say 40MB, instead of 500MB...

is THIS possible with the PackageMaker.app program?

if not, are there any other (freeware?) os x installer creater programs that can do this?
