We have 2 imac computers. Computer 1 just purchased and computer 2 purchased in January which is working well. Computer 2 access the Internet and email successfully. While setting up computer 1 for my wife's email account, can access the Internet but cannot create an email account. The welcome screen comes up and we enter username, password and click on create account in either the automatic or manual mode and we get the same results. After a period of time, error message comes up saying cannot connect to server - check username and or password. Have downloaded Thunderbird and Seamonkey email programs. Using the same information used in trying to set up Mail, both Thunderbird and Seamonkey set up successfully and we can receive and send emails in both programs. Thus far cannot get pass the Welcome Screen in Mail.

Any information/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
