I just want to confirm a few things about creative suite in 10.11

After updating to 10.11. Photoshop CS5, Illustrator CS6, Flash CS6 and Dreamweaver CS6 all won't open.... immediately after clicking on Photoshop CS5 a popup comes up saying it requires Java 6 and is unavailable.

For the rest of them(CS6) they bounce in the dock for a while...then the same popup comes up.

The thread dedicated to broken apps says Photoshop CS6 WORKS.

Is photoshop different from the rest of the CS6 suite, or do i have todo something to stop them from using java?

Does anyone else have this issue?

I would uninstall and the reinstall the apps

My CC apps all work fine. But I had the same issue last year with the Yosemite DP and CS6. Just install Java 6, it worked for me. No need to reinstall apps or OS.

I had a copy of Photoshop CS6 that I never installed(prefer CS5). I installed that and it works perfectly. So I think ill just reinstall the rest of CS6.

As far as just installing java 6.....I believe as of this time, its not supported(or available) in 10.11

It wasn't supported for Yosemite the day after DP1 came out either but it still worked

I was going to install my CS6 apps, but when I tried to install java, I got an error stating that it could not be installed as a newer version has been installed (most likely with El Capitan).

EDIT: I just checked my System Preferences, and did not see Java in there. Is it missing for anyone else?

UPDATE: I tried reinstalling Dreamweaver(the most important to me as i need it for work) and it did not have the same effect as Photoshop. I still get an error about needing java legacy

From the Java thread here in the forums. This is by far the easiest way to get it to work. The problem is that Adobe requires Java SE 6 to run some of its apps, but Java 6 has been deprecated and is no longer supported by Oracle or Apple:

I finally found a method to install Java SE 6 on El Capitan. I found this even before reading dotNes's method. My method is similar in the fact that it uses Pacifist to install the package.

1. Download Apple's official Java Package from https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1572?locale=en_US
2. Download Pacifist
3. Download UninstallPKG
4. Use UninstallPKG to uninstall any version of JDK on your Mac
5. Drag JavaForOSX.pkg from JavaForOSX2014-001.dmg to a desired folder
6. Run this command in Terminal.app (Credit goes to w0lf)

sudo nvram boot-args="rootless=0";osascript -e 'tell app "loginwindow" to «event aevtrrst»'
7. After your computer restarts, right click on JavaForOSX.pkg and open it with Pacifist
8. Select "Contents of JavaForOSX.pkg" and install it with administrator privileges.
9. Java still won't work when you run it in Terminal for some reason, so you are going to have to install JavaForOSX.pkg using the stock installer. This time, however, the installer will install without issue. Double click JavaForOSX.pkg and install it to your HDD.

I've gotten Minecraft to run perfectly this way, and Terminal does not return any errors when I run java.

And of course shortly after I shared that set of instructions, Apple has released a Java installer package for El Capitan.
