Hey,
I recently bought a new iPod Touch 4g, replacing my 1g, before an app store existed. I never bought anything in the past, as I could get my music from Limewire. But now I want to buy some apps that I like. So I went to my account page and updated everything, and added my credit card.
For over a month I keep getting the message, "credit card processing is currently unavailable at this time". And sometimes I get, "your credit card has been declined".
Back in the beginning of all this, I called my CC company first. I have the money, and further, they tried to call me because of 9 authorizations for "the record shop" ,(which is the legal name for iTunes). They authorized each one, (no money, just auth.) But the itunes returned the errors to me anyway. So my account still has no way to pay, and I cannot shop.
I've contacted Apple support, I have probably over 10 replies from them, they keep trying, but they don't know what's wrong. They also had to change my password, etc. to try to use my account, which they said worked fine for them.
I read online that many users outside the USA were having the same problem. They believe that Apple (for security and fraud purposes) can see that my computer is currently located outside the USA (ip address), while my credit card and billing address are in the USA, and is failing to initiate my account with my credit card.
Because the Apple support people have been unable to figure out the problem, I have twice mentioned the above theory to them and asked if that's the possible culprit. They have not responded to, replied to, or addressed that question in either case.
They also informed me that I could use Paypal, but Paypal cannot be used if your paypal account is based outside the United States, and mine is. (because my shipping address is here, so I had to set it up with a credit card that matched my local shipping address. I couldn't use my US credit card for that reason.) This is also AFTER I told them I wasn't in the USA!!! Is anybody listening??
What do you think? Anybody have a similar experience? Anybody know what to do?
