I hope it's not that much for a deposit. I heard that it might be $150, but who knows and this time.![]()
There's not a set amount for a deposit, it's all dependant on your credit (aka, how much of a "risk" you are). When we set up our phones, I think we had to pay $100 per line (so $200 total), but I've heard about others having to pay $500 per line.I hope it's not that much for a deposit. AT&T has been the cheapest in terms of Deposit's for me. They've wanted $150 in the past.
Verizon has wanted as much as 800 bucks.
But Surprisingly I can walk out of a Sprint or T-Mobile Store paying absolutely $0 for a Deposit.
I'm fairly sure AT&T doesn't require deposits that high, even with crappy credit, I've just never seen it and I've seen some people with awful credit not have to pay any deposit.Security deposits on phones are never that low. Expect close to $500. Call AT&T and have them run your credit. If you have your credit run more then once within a week period, it won't count negative towards ya.
They will still need to re-run your credit on Friday, but at least you will know if you can afford the deposit.

And also iirc AT&T doesn't rerun a credit check if they did one in the past x number of weeks or something (not sure...just remember vaguely from hofo), they just re-lookup that info from before. Also the credit checks counting negatively is somewhat of a myth, it depends on how many from who in what kind of time period ..pretty complicated, but either way they wouldn't check twice in a week.
30 days.
Right, read that, but for some reason I thought it was different.
Ah yeah, I just searched on hofo, got someone who said generally six months, but meh.

I went to att and had them run a credit check just to speed up the process for the 29th that is good for 30 days they will just pull up your name and will have the info there. The assistant manager said that if you have decent credit you will not have to put down a deposit, fair credit maybe $ 100.00, I did this because I am porting my number from nextell, check to see about you phone numbers, he said some are not portable.Security deposits on phones are never that low. Well, here's something interesting. My parents recently went through a divorce, and so my mom's credit is total crap. I was originally gonna put everything on her credit... but after hearing this, I think it might be better to just have me sign-up. I'm 18, with zero credit. And I'm hearing of $150 deposits. Seems that I might be better of using my lack of credit rather than my mom's bad credit.
WTF? That's got to be one of the most ignorant statements I've read lately.I knew it would NEVER happen and Im glad they have credits checks.
Anyone with bad credit NEED not apply! Fix your life before you decide you NEED a $600.00 Smart Phone.
In the mean time, I see these lines getting a whole lot shorter as the "Credit Checks" weed out the "I only use 15 mins a months on the cell phone" people.![]()
