Are there any (ideally competitive) games on the app store that can be played against players using a mac or just a browser?

For instance, if I wanted to play a game against someone using my Mac whilst they only had an iPod Touch, is there a game that they can download and I can access online that can fill this role?

Ideally looking for a turn-based game with log-in accounts.

Please don't recommend they use the same web app, as I really don't think they'll remain interested if they have to use safari.

FYI - this is so I can play games with an elder relation who lives abroad.

Probably not really what you're looking for, but Scrabble hits all of those (browser via Facebook), you can pick up a game you started on the iPhone in a browser, etc. Works very well and seems to have a stellar iPad version (though I haven't played it).

Thanks for the response! That's exactly what i'm talking about.

Problem is though that I don't have a facebook account, nor do I want one.

Any other suggestions?

Just to clarify, they have an ipod touch (though using safari for them is not an option) and I have my mac. I was just hoping there was some game that we could both play by taking turns from time to time. Scrabble is the perfect sort of game.
