Crossover Games Problem

Hi there guys!

I have a copy of Crossover Games, I got it just to be able to play Command and Conquer Renegade on my mac. In the past I have installed it, and it didn't work back then, so I installed Windows via bootcamp, but now that windows is not working properly any longer, and I want it off my MBP, I'm going back to Crossover Games.

Now, I installed the game without any problems, but whenever I run the game, the game icon just sits there in my dock, doing nothing... I installed the latest patch, and after I did that, the game icon would bounce once, sit still and immediately disappear again.

I have tried everything I can possibly think off, I set the config for the game to all sorts of various things, like windowed mode, lowest quality settings, nothing will work...


The weird thing, however, is that I KNOW it's supported by Crossover Games.

Also, a fresh install of my OS X did not do any good, a while back, before the fresh install, I tried to install the game and it did nothing, then I did a fresh install of OS X because I felt like it would be good to get rid off all the left behind junk from various applications that I had removed wrong, and it's STILL not working...

Is it possible that the game lost compatibility with Leopard or with the newer version of Crossover Games? It says the game is supposed to work, but I don't know which version it was tested with...

(PS: Once again, the game is C&C: Renegade, also known as Command and Conquer Renegade. I own a legal copy of this game!)

ANY help would be greatly appreciated, I'm getting desperate...

Hey consider urself lucky, i just made an account to try to help you...

I while go i got savage 2 i waited and waited to finish download and when i open it same problem as u, i got really angry but my friend said try to update ur mac first so i just did software update, and it worked so im hoping this will fix ur problem because im about to get this program and im not sure if its safe or not

did you check the Compatibility page on Codeweavers?

crossover is not a perfect program in fact its pretty much a rip off from the linux version of Wine.

crossover basically uses 2x the amount of resources you need to run a program sooo you basically need 2x the whatever it requires from you : ).

Sadly, I keep my Mac updated at all times, so no luck on that...

I've decided to just run it through bootcamp, guess I'll have to do it that way...

That's not exactly right. CrossOver is from the main developers and backers of Wine. Think of it as Wine with official support and wizards to make installation of the package itself and other applications a point-and-click affair instead of manual Linux configuration and troubleshooting.

I have found just the opposite, actually. When a program works under CrossOver Mac or Wine, it works better and faster than under virtual emulation than VMware or Parallels, even games. So *if* a game works under CrossOver or Wine, it's going to be a better experience than under VMware or Parallels. The problem with CrossOver and Wine is that the list of Windows programs it runs genuinely well is limited... but when it works (Steam games like Half-Life 2, Prey, etc.) it works great.

i have no idea where your getting this. The wine part i can accept but when your computer virtually runs something that is not specified for. For instance steam CS:S it uses more graphics than it need for example : because i have no direct x and i did a performance check with all settings on i got upto 60 FPS. Through bootcamp i got 92+ FPS with one test 32fps difference is very high and clearly shows what a difference it could make.
