Hi everyone.

I am extremely disappointed. I waited 2 months, watching youtube videos, trailers, things like that to finally get the Orange Box for my Mac so I could pay Team Fortress 2. So I read up on Crossover Games, buy it, and they tell me that Team Fortress 2 will work well on it, good fps, stuff like that. I get the Orange Box, Wait a day for installing all the crap you have to, and then finally load up Team Fortress 2. This process of loading it up takes about 2-3 minutes.

So after waiting all this time, I get to the main menu, and every thing's looking okay. I pull up the server list, and then the screen starts glitching like mad: Dots and lines flashing everywhere, strange colourful dots, it looks really crap. So then the list stops refreshing and the glitching still is happening. Anyway, 1 of 2 things will happen at this point: Either I'll pick a server and a window will pop up saying "Server could not be connected," and I'll have to pick a new server, or, that window pops up and says the same thing but then the window disappears after a fraction of a second, and the game starts to load.

What happens now is again 1 of 2 things: The game will load to three bars and freeze, or, the game will load until that sign pops up and says "You are now on your way to (Map Name) (Game Type)," and freezes.

I have never go past this point. What really ticks me off is that Portal works fine. Perfect (most of the time) fps, great graphics, and only crashes once in a while. So the reason I think TF2 is screwing up is because connection, or something like that. I am looking for help because I have no idea about how to fix this issue. By the way, I have not installed Half Life 2 or Half Life 2: Episodes 1 and 2 because they will take up too much memory.

HELP PLEASE!

I've said it in other threads, create a WinXP Bootcamp partition and play through there - sure it's not as convenient having to restart and load up Windows - but it runs a hell of a lot better.

What's your system specs btw?

OK don't worry lol turns out I just needed to wait a few more minutes. The load time's a little inconvenient, but the graphics and fps are great, only a few problems with crashing quite a bit.

For some reasons source powered games won't work on any crossover games past version 7.1.1. your gonna need to find that software. Torrents are were to find them jst keep the new version dmg cuz youll have to reinstall that version to buy games from steam. So just use 7.1.1 to play and everything will ne fine.

I'm running Crossover Games 7.2.2 on OSX 10.5.8 on an early 2007 MBP, and Source Games are running just fine, in fact, I play TF2 almost every day with it at a fairly steady FPS.

I have been running TF2 on a MacBook with good performance. I also had problems with Crossover Games 7.2.0 and went back to 7.1.1. On the CodeWeavers site, they announced Crossover Games 8.0 is being released on September 1. It should be compatible with Snow Leopard and hopefully cleaned up the bugs with Source (though, that may have happened according to ShukuenShinobi.)

CrossOver Games 8.0

Will be released tomorrow, and should add some additional stability around many of the Steam titles, not to mention supporting Left4Dead.

Best Wishes,

For the record, Crossover Games 8.0 is working well for me with TF2 in Snow Leopard. I believe they upped the DirectX version that is supported. I'm using a MacBook 2.4 GHz with the X3100 chip. The graphics look prettier now at lowest settings, but I've taken a bit of a hit on the framerate. Everything is stable, however.
