Hey, in an effort to avoid the numerous issues with Office 08 for mac, I thought maybe I could virtualize Windows XP (I have a copy lying around from my PC building days) and install Office 2007? Which works better, Fusion 2 or Parallels 4 for this task? Is CrossOver able to do it?

Crossover will more than likely work just fine... If you want to virtualize, I personally like VM Ware fusion over Parallels, but I have yet to play with Parallels 4.

First off cross-over doesn't have golden compatibility with office 2007, only office 2000 (which is ridiculously old). I ran parallels 3 with my first macbook and had nothing but problems so much so that I ditched the whole thing and now am running vmware fusion 2.0 with office 2007 and it is a thing of beauty. I keep it on in the background in unity mode and have my office applications in my dock so that if I need to make a word document all I have to do is click it and it pops up in its own window. Office 2007 is MUCH better than office 2008 for mac so I highly recommend it.
