Ok, I have a Macbook 2.2 GHz 4GB Intel Core 2 Duo
I installed Crossover (version 6.2.1) and I have Steam running. Now when I run games like Counterstrike 1.6, Sven Co-op, etc I am running a steady 10-15 Fps, but when I run Counterstrike:Source, Half life 2. I get up to about 30-60 FPS. That already began to confuse me.

But when I run boot camp and play the same games, I run from about 50 in CS 1.6 and Sven Co-Op goes across the board from 3-60.
Counter Strike Source runs at 10 all the time.
What Im trying to figure out is how is Crossover running better than Bootcamp like HL2 and CS:S. and then Bootcamp run 1.6 better? Is there something in the settings im not doing right?
I have all settings in the games on low.

Side note. I play Left 4 Dead on Bootcamp and Single player I get 15-50 depending how open the area is. But Online (Versus, Campaign) is dreadful all the time.

version 6.21?

umm versions before 7.0.0 couldn't even play CS let alone source i wonder how you got it to work but, download and run the newest version 7.1.1 or 7.0.0 as i've heard 7.0.0 does wonders, might fix your problem.

btw how are you playing L4D? Just curious. Do you ever get a problem where the menu is black but you see the zombie background when you turn the game?

I don't think he's playing L4D on Crossover. Codeweavers pretty much said they have an issue with nVidia drivers that prevent the menu from showing up that they are working on.

Impossible. You probably messed up the Bootcamp installation or didn't install the drivers yet.

Why shouldn't crossover run better than boot camp? I'm not surprized. There are plenty of reasons why one might expect crossover to run faster in some cases.

Crossover is a re-implementation of Windows. It is NOT an emulator. It is a competitive re-implementation of the Windows API. They have, it seems, done a better job in some areas than Microsoft.

We see the same thing under Linux. Crossover+Linux is in some cases fater than booting into Windows.

in bootcamp i dont have that problem, if you run it in single player and then in console type thirdpersonshoulder it actually runs smoother, but the jump to online games is still dreadful, i have yet to try out LAN games
also how do you update the drivers in bootcamp when you only have the X3100?

UPDATE: i have the newest Crossover games and it is running quite well, I still havnt fixed the Bootcamp problem though.

similar problem with me, basically in crossover i get 40-50 fps in nearly all maps, except when i go into open areas where it goes down to 30. (this is lowest setting, 1024 x 768 and dxlevel 70.

in boot camp i get 90 fps on aim texture medium settings at lcd resolution, but as soon as i go to a map like dust2 i get 10 fps (lowest settings and resolution)
all this is in dx70

wtf?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!

i personally use crossover for cs1.6.. i run it on my macbook 2.26ghz intel core duo, 2gb DDR3 and 9400M GeForce card and it runs nicely at 50 to 99fps constant
