Crucial announces SSD

Crucial has announced on their website that they are making 32 GB and 64 GB Solid State Drives (SSD). This could be a hint towards the rumored "Slim-MacBook" that may be coming in MWSF. They have not released the drives yet, so if there will be a Slim-MacBook, it may not be released to buy immediately at MWSF.

I didn't know that. But I thought they have a long term deal with Samsung and some other SK company

Apple includes Micron RAM in some of its computers. It seems to be "luck of the draw".

it is possible, however the price of a 64 GB drive makes it extremely expensive. It would make a MBP several hundred dollars more expensive. You get ~100 GB more with a conventional drive.

How could this enable a "slim" design. It is exactly the same size and form as a standard disk drive. It is not smaller.

This would however be perfect for a DIY upgrade. For all those people who have a mac and want a flash based version. Just buy this the drop it in.

Yeah a dude from engadget did, but the drive is very expensive.

love the capabilities of SSD but the price will kill it for at least a yr.
