Whilst playing CS source on my macbook (through crossover), when using voice chat, I (or so I have reliably been informed) experience horrendous quality. Not only this, but it lags (the game runs fine at ~30-40 fps) for about 5 seconds before any speech comes through. In mic settings, I can't change the volume slider (it resets to full whenever I leave it), and the mic itself is fine (I've checked in garageband etc).

Would a headset improve the situation?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Playing CS: Source in a native Windows environment and seeing if the problem occurs there as well would probably be a good way to determine where the problem lies. My money's on Crossover.

You should use bootcamp if you are going to be playing games in Windows.

Yeah well - Point me in the direction of windows on the cheap and I will. (google is not an answer)

Also, its the convenience.
