Hello everyone,

I tried to search around before posting this, but found nothing solid. So, I apologize if this is something already on the boards. I'm sure it has come up....but I want to be sure I got this right.

I've got a MPB on the way (should arrive tomorrow). I'm going to be transferring my imacG5 files once the MBP arrives, via firewire.

I want to wipe the imacG5 once I've transferred everything. But would like to reinstall CS2 as this will be my back up machine as well as my machine for any print graphics work that would benefit from a larger monitor.

Do I just transfer everything and then deactivate CS2 on the imacG5 before doing a clean install? Then install CS2 and activate again?

How do I deactivate? (guess i should look in help folder?)

Will my activation(s) transfer to the new MBP?

Any issues I might encounter?

THanks in advance for your help!

Make sure the iMac is connected to the internet. CS2 deactivation is under the Help menu.

Help > Transfer Activation.

Deactivate on iMac before activating new installation. New installation will run for 30 days in trial mode before it needs activating.

Without internet access, deactivate by phone.

Cool thanks. Does it matter which program I use to deactivate CS2? (ps, ai, etc.)?

Also, I forgot to mention that I'm running Studio 8. (got the bundle way back when) How do I go about making sure I don't run into problems with that? Is there activation for that as well?

To be sure, I'm wondering when I should deactivate. Will the activation transfer to the new mac and then I deactivate old mac? Then clean install OS and install CS2 again?

Sorry if these are stupid questions. I think I used to know the answers, but it's been a while and I want to be sure I don't do the wrong thing.

Thanks again for the expert insight!
