Maybe this isn't allowed, and if not I apologize profusely, but since I couldn't find anything forbidding it, I was wondering if anyone who has CS2 and isn't planning to try out the beta of CS3 would be willing to let me use their beta key. You wouldn't even have to provide me with your CS2 license key, merely obtain a CS3 beta key and let me know. In return, I would happily let you know my impressions of the beta in detail, and perform tests as you like. I'm only running a MacBook basic model, but there are some things I'd love to test on it, and until CS3 is released in earnest, and possibly not even then, I won't be able to purchase and use it even at university prices.

Again, if this isn't allowed, please accept my apologies. Otherwise, pm me or post here if you're willing to do this.

Anyone can download the CS3 beta. If you do not have a key, you can use it for 2 days. I suggest you do this, since it is not really allowed for people to give you their key.
 
Since we're on the subject, I was wondering about this... how does one aquire a "beta key" for CS3? I have bought and own CS2 Premium, but when I enter that serial key into the dialog box for CS3 it tells me that it's invalid. So, my short two-day trial has already ended!

Hopefully there's an easy answer to this... thanks in advance.

Here's one: I have CS2 on PC. Can I get the CS3 full beta for Mac?

Your copy is probably not registered. Registering is different from activating, so you might look into that.

I'm going to try it (not going to bother until I get my MacBook back from service, though, old lampshade iMac is a bit too slow), but where do you see that it's not allowed for people to give me a beta key? I was looking for that, though I admit I didn't look too hard, but I didn't see any indication of that. It's not a product key like the CS2 license, it's merely a limited beta.

I couldn't - I went through the registration process and got a CS3 key, but the wizard won't accept it in CS3: Looks like it's only good for the Windows version :(
 
I just downloaded and installed it and it asked for either a serial number or try it for 30 days. Does that mean that the trial is actually working for 30 days now or will it disappear after 2?

Right, figured that out. Sadly, I am running CS, not CS2, so I can't get one. And even more sadly, I just moved from PC to Mac, so I'm without PS after 2 days. I'll probably just download the CS2 trial to get me 30 days closer to the release of CS3, which I'll buy when it comes out because of my wonderful student discount.

Nope, longer than that if you have a serial number.

From the FAQ:
Q: When will the Adobe Photoshop CS3 beta expire?
A. The Photoshop CS3 beta will expire soon after the launch of Photoshop CS3 in spring 2007.

Does the desktop always show through? This is weirding me out, I have to close all the other apps or I see them behind my images. Is that normal? Please answer soon, I only have a few hours left :D !

I think that's a bug. The interface fades in when you switch from another application, but it shouldn't stay transparent. (You don't have any extensions/haxies/etc. to make windows transparent, do you?)

The default toolbar borders are kind of transparent, you can try different display modes (with F) to find one you like better.

Yes I'm afraid this is the case when using the Mac.

Unless you know how to do the simple CS3 Beta workaround so that the beta will never expire, but we won't talk about that, as that would be both unethical and illegal... :cool:
