i have a 3 day old mbp 17" 2g ram and it is a 2.6ghz....

cs3 master suite is not installing......... this morning it ran for about 5 to 6 hours. i ended up canceling it and getting some rest.....

i installed it on my old pre intel power mac (2.0 ghz 3.5 g ram) and it installed in a few hours.... but i didn't load the programs requiring the intel programs. so i know it would be faster.

the only thing i have loaded on the mbp is spore.

is 6+hours required to install cs3 master suite? or do i have another bum macbook pro???

I've never installed the Master Suite, but I've done installs of CS3 Design Premium and CS2 Standard (two times each) and never had it take more than 90 minutes or so, including restarts.

Please don't cross-post duplicate threads on MacRumors, thanks. That other thread is now deleted.

It sounds like you might have DVD drive problems but it's hard to tell without more information. Does copying a file from a disk to the desktop also take a much longer time than usual? Are the disks themselves in good condition?

sorry bout the cross thread.....

The disks look to be in great shape. i haven't tried to copy a file to the desktop yet, since i just got it. i'm trying to load cs3 again now(i'm on my powermac right now).

i had a bought 15" that had the lcd issues and i took it back and got the 17". The 15" seemed to even install spore faster and the updates took 1/2 as long to download (i know that time would vary due to model).

i will try the copying files to the desktop in a when it is finished installing or when just give up on the installation.....

installation this time was 4 hours.....

the files copy to the desktop really slow and this was after i did a repair disk from the grey cd that comes with it. Dvd's play fines on it though....
