I recently upgraded my main workstation to a Mac Pro with CS4 previously installed. Today I decided to see if the driver for my Epson 4870 scanner was installed... it's not. But, when I went looking for it on the Epson Site, I found much in the way of disclaimer language for use with CS4. Now I'm a bit concerned about installing an older Twain driver. Any suggestions or comments?

Have you tried just using Image Capture to scan, then opening the image in Photoshop? I had the same problem a couple of years ago with a Mac Pro I had at my old job and ended up installing some open source scanner drivers, but in my opinion the Image Capture interface is nicer.

No I have not used Image Capture. I'm not especially partial to opening the Scanner into CS4 and would be willing to give this a try. In fact I do prefer to have more control of foreign files before I introduce them into main applications. Any special Site's I should look to for acquiring Image Capture? TNX 4 UR Suggestion...

Image Capture is one of the many apps that ships with every copy of MacOS X. IMHO, IgnatiusTheKing could not be more correct. I have never seen a TWAIN UI that didn't suck. They are slow and look like cheap Windows crap. OTOH, Image Capture is simple, elegant, professional--and fast.

Yeah as MisterMe stated, it's included with OS X. Check your Applications folder. The icon looks like this.

Well, thanks to both of you for your quick response and the information you provided. I downloaded the Twain from Epson's Site but as you said "It Sucks". I know I use it at work many times during the week. I'm not in charge of Applications but have a loud voice when necessary. I think I'm going to change some software real soon and jump Ship. TNX AGN...
