Currently feeling a bit sick as my MBP 16inch, which is less than 3 months old has a damaged screen. I closed the lid, while there was something metallic resting on the key, and now I have a fairly nasty gash and no picture whatsoever.

I’m in the UK. I have a reservation at the Apple store already booked for tomorrow. I don’t have AppleCare+ so was wondering if anyone had recent experience of this, regarding timings and costs.

You didn't buy apple care+, the cost of this screen is expensive, as far as I know, the repair and replacement of 16 inch screen is more than 900 dollars

Yup, that was pretty much about right when you covert to £UK. It was classified as Tier2 damage, as although the glass wasn’t cracked, enough pressure had been applied to the LC to render it a write-off.

It’s costing me £809 and will be shipped back within 7 days. I feel a bit sore about the whole thing (and am a little concerned about just how fragile the LCD screen are), but didn’t have much of a choice.

I’m back to using my 2012 MBP (which still works great, and has never cost me a penny after the initial purchase.)
