Just wondering if anyone else is waiting on orders being shipped? I’ve had an XDR (glossy) and 16 core machine on order for over a week now. The display is showing as ‘your order is being prepared for shipment‘, and the machine is simply showing as ‘your order is being processed’. Both statuses have been like this for a week now with no apparent movement.

Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat? I would have expected at least the display to have been updated if it was preparing for shipment?

I am in Australia and therefore my orders will be shipping from China. Both were (and still are) showing a delivery window of 4-11 February.

You made an order just over a week ago?

I've ordered mine since the 18th of DECEMBER and I'm still waiting, patiently!

However, my Pro Display (Matte) and stand were both ordered on the 12th of Dec, both were delivered 18th and 14th Jan respectively.

Hmm in reading threads like this, I just ordered my MP. I really didn't expect to be ordering it for another month or so, but with the lead times I have been seeing, I went ahead and ordered. Imagine my surprise when the ETA is

UK current Apple store lead time is 4 weeks, even the base setup.

Wow, I must've got in there just in time a couple of days ago with a 2-3 week lead. That jumped quickly!

Which country are you in Lou?

My XDR was set to deliver between February 5-12, just got pushed to March 3 with no other notice to me. The stand says it is preparing to ship. So a 3-4 week delay or so from the original estimate (I ordered several weeks ago).

Both my XDR and Mac Pro were ordered on 23/1 with an estimate delivery window between 4 and 11 February. The XDR went immediately to “preparing for shipment“, but the machine stayed on “processing”.

The monitor stayed in this status for over a week, so I put a call in to Apple to understand whether the China situation is impacting shipments. Was told that they would follow it up, but all was still on track for the delivery window this week.

Immediately after the call, the monitor order was pushed back from preparing for shipment to processing. I managed to source an XDR and stand at a nearby Apple Store, and have cancelled the online order.

Now I just need a machine to use with it - my 12” macbook doesn’t really cut it ;-(

...and just to add to the above. I followed up with Apple on the machine and the likelihood of them hitting the estimated delivery date - they are still adamant that they will hit the delivery window and the machine will be with me before 11 February. I won’t hold my breath given that it is not even at “preparing for shipment”

Just got a text. My NCMP was ordered on 1/30, so delivery in a week?

Still looking for 8GB DIMMs if anyone wants to sell me theirs I'd be most appreciative.

Out of interest, you mentioned you were in Australia, which store was this?

I know that the flagship Apple Store Sydney was keeping a specific high end Mac Pro configuration + Pro Display(s) in stock when possible, but that was back in December and the big store has since closed for renovations.

The demo Mac Pro that was there has since been moved to Apple Store Bondi. Was that the store, or are you in Melbourne?

My work is ordering one of these and I am curious as to how long it will take. Apple's site says 19-26 for our planned config, but I'm not sure if I believe it. I'll post updates once it ships out.

Pro Display says March 16th, which seems like an absurd number. We aren't in a huge hurry to get the display, but over a month is quite a long time. VESA mount will also take 2-3 weeks.

Bondi Junction - they got the display kit and stock that was in the George Street store when it closed for the renovations.

I called last week and they initially said no stock of the Mac Pro or XDR’s - but I asked them to check on their system and they came back to confirm they had a display in stock.

Same deal on Sunday when I went in - floor staff said they’re not stocked in retail stores, but when I asked him to check, they had an XDR and stand in stock.

As far as I know, I got the last one. Now if only my machine would ship.

What is your configuration?

I ordered mine 18 Dec with a delivery window of 8-14 Feb... still stuck in "Processing"

You were very wise to get them to check. The staff often seem surprised to see what their tricorder shows, and customers are surprised that a store has things in stock which don't show up available for pickup in the Apple Store app. (Another little known fact is that the bigger stores often keep a top-spec MacBook Pro in stock.)

Another personal question (!) - did you happen to carry the Pro Display XDR home on the train?!

That could have been me... Back in December, soon after my online ordered Mac Pro arrived, I went into the George Street Apple Store to see the glossy and nano Pro Displays side by side, to see if I really wanted one and which to get.

Before I went, I actually looked up the box dimensions to see whether I'd be able to manage it on the train. I concluded the display would be okay, but I'd have to get the Stand on another trip. As it turned out, none in stock, so online order it was.

Just curious! 😃

So after seeing it side by side, which one did you end up getting?

Being in Bangkok, I didn't have the luxury of going to an Apple Store to see one (it wouldn't have any to show anyway) so I had to make a quick decision and ended up getting the nano coating. Very very happy with my decision!!!

Just curious! 😃

Yes - they were just flat out saying no without checking their devices until I pushed it.

Definitely wasn’t going to drag it home on the train. I managed to park fairly close to the Apple store in Bondi and just lugged both boxes back to the car. The stand isn’t too bad, but the display is surprisingly heavy and not particularly comfortable to carry - I wouldn’t have wanted to carry it too much further through town. The stand was fine.

Did your XDR arrive? Not sure what is going on with my machine order - supposedly arriving this week still but no sign of it being ready for shipping.

I‘ve been back a few times to compare and ultimately went with the standard - very very happy with the decision. Now I just need a machine to plug it in to!

Agreed. At least the box has a carry handle, but still heavy and unwieldy. The thought of walking it through Town Hall station, ugh. I'm kind of happy I didn't have that choice and instead TNT delivered it. (Actually, I think TNT delivered the Stand, and DHL the display a few days later - Apple uses a mix of couriers.)

Yes, ordered around Christmas, estimated delivery late Feb. It was bumped up once to early Feb, then first Stand then Display were prepared & shipped around mid-Jan, so ultimately arrived over a month earlier than expected.

If your Mac Pro goes into preparing sometime today (Wednesday) it can still make it from Shanghai by the end of the week. Apple orders get high priority once they are on their way and a morning arrival at Mascot can often turn into an afternoon delivery.

Of course, the coronavirus situation has thrown a spanner in the works. Qantas has probably cancelled a number of freight flights from China. The show must go on though.

I got the standard glossy, but it was a hard decision. I wrote in an earlier thread how I thought the nano resembled a Vantablack like surface that swallowed all stray light. I still envy it.

It came down mainly to reading a lot of text on the screen, where the standard surface has a slight edge on clarity. However, every time I see myself in the black mirror I think "I wouldn't see this if I'd gone nano!"

The side by side comparisons - so the buyer can determine which they like best - are good reasons Apple should put Mac Pro demo units in all the retail stores, including Apple Iconsiam!

Despite being assured on a phone call yesterday that everything was on track for delivery on or before 11 February I woke up this morning to find that it is now showing 25 February - interesting that it’s just that date and not a date range.

I guess it’s just in as a placeholder and am thinking this is just going to get pushed back further.

Funny you mentioned Apple Store @ Iconsiam... right after I went there to check the two monitors out. The glossy one was a bit brighter and texts a tad bit sharper, but both could not make up for the amount of reflection on the surface - which would've driven me nuts. Glad I made the right choice (for me) and spent the extra $1K :)
