I jailbroke my phone using Quickpwn for windows last week; i have 2.02 firmware and the last version of itunes 7....

I'm wondering whether I can restore my phone to factory 2.0.2, upgrade to 2.1, download itunes 8, and re-jailbreak using Quickpwn yet...

The new Quickpwn is not out for Windows yet, right? I hope they make one..

Just trying to get an idea of the current status here..

I've confirmed that these instructions work

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/562018/

and I've CONFIRMED that YOU DO NOT NEED TO UNINSTALL iTUNES 8 and install 7.7

just go straight to the quickpwn part and begin there......its really easy to do.

So you don't have to Uninstall Uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support ?
Just run QuickPwn straight away ?
Do you know whether does this jailbreaking method change the baseband of the phone ? I heard it isn't good if it changes it.

Thanks in advance.

I'm also using windows, and I also followed those directions, but I DID uninstall 8 and mobile services, install 7.7, then re-upgrade to 8 after the jailbreak. Don't know if I had to, but it was easy enough. If people are saying you don't have to, then go for it!

So, there is no need for you to restore your factory 2.0.2. Just let itunes upgrade you to 2.1, then follow the steps to jailbreak. You will probably have to reinstall all of your cydia apps. I found a neat script where you can use apt to backup your installed packages and then reinstall them quick. You can look into it here http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showpost.php?p=338998&postcount=1.

nope... i read several posts from people that said you didn't have to, so I was like.. what the heck.. it wouldn't hurt to try since i didn't have to uninstall anything... and it worked!

even posts on quickpwn.com shows that a lot of people didn't uninstall and downgrade

HOWEVER.... i can't guarantee this will work for you... but it did for me.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll probably just wait for the dev team to come up with a Quickpwn for windows that works with 2.1 and itunes 8.

I'm assuming they've got their minds wrapped around it already!
