Thinking about getting an ATV but probably wont unless I can get hulu on the big screen through it. Right now I can stream most media through my xbox360, so that is less of a need. I can't find the current state of the cat and mouse game anywhere. Thanks all

Current state of Hulu on Boxee?

i haven't had any issues streaming Hulu via boxee for months now. The cat and mouse game seems to have stopped after Boxee went to the browser interface.
i have some problems.. like the zoom not saying the same from program to program. i always have to increase it to 1.10.
annoying things like that - also sometimes i can't pause.
and for the Mac mini vs ATV topic. go ahead and search. it is obvious the Mac mini outperforms the ATV in every area, it's just a matter of price.
As far as the mac mini setup goes, what functionality do you lose? I assume you have to re-connect to the shared itunes library each time you want to watch/listen to itunes?
I would get a Mac Mini and get PLEX, the amount of available downloadable content is awesome (Hulu, Netflix, tons of other stuff)
go with the mini base level, make sure to max out the ram...I run frontrow with boxee plugin...works like a charm...I'm now selling my 160gb ATV

I have both ATV and an iMac for running Hulu to my flat screen tv. I stopped using ATV for Hulu because of buffering problems. But for the ease and for my kids and wife, the ATV is superior to a mac.

they may have a problem with setting it up but once its rolling I don't see how its any harder to select and play media than front row?
there are tons of users on the PLEX forums who have spouses and children that use the software on a regular basis
it may be more expensive than appletv but given the additional abilities of the platform it may be worthwhile to the OP, depending on his/her budget
and what exactly do you mean about bothering with either? You don't think PLEX is a great home theater tool?

Hrm, didn't realize how well the mini worked. I will probably just do that. My current mac is a 1.8 mini with a broken dvd-drive. When I start law school in the spring I'll be getting a macbook or macbook pro and was just going to sell the mini, but I guess I'll just turn it into a media center. Gracias all
