So right now I'm at Borders and am glad they offer free wifi. After checking my email on my iPad and surfing some websites I noticed that the lights on the ceiling of this place tend to bug and reflect through the iPad.

Don't get me wrong. I love my iPad. It's my new best friend, but it's not that great when there are bright lights right above you.

I could barely go through reading one page on this thing until I gave up and picked up a real book nearby.

Look, I love my iPad a million times more than my best friend..kidding, but in seriousness it sucks to read here at Borders or even outside in the daytime, but that's a given I'm sure.

Anyways, rant over.

Don't they have chairs to lay down in? Or just lay on the floor, no one will care.

I love irony...here you are trying to read an electronic book in a store that sells real books, and the lighting that normally assists in reading what they sell is killing your attempt to read the electronic version. Almost seems intentional :)

Maybe Borders recently installed ultra powerful lighting in anticipation of the iPad launch because they were afraid it would impact sales negatively?

Any overhead lighting can be rough.

I never thought of it that way, kind of funny.

Barnes & Nobles offers "limited" free book reading via Nook if you're online at their stores... called "Read in Store" feature

Overhead lighTs

I had a similar problem with the overhead lights in Barnes and Noble but I just increased the iPad's brightness until it overpowered the reflections.
