Has anyone ordered on recently? Did it arrive before the estimated date?
I recently ordered one and it’s not scheduled to arrive until the 18-25, but I need it sooner. A few days… They didn’t have rush delivery this time…
How likely is it that I would receive it before the 18th? (west coast)

Kidding aside: no one knows. Literally no one. What person A experienced a few days ago when ordering a CTO iMac has absolutely no relevance whatsoever on your order (aka: the order process is stateless) or anyone else’s order.

If you need it sooner get a stock model, not a CTO.

Could be impacted by parts availability - especially the GPU.

Another option could be a refurbished model, depending on what you need. Apple has significant 27" refurb stock on hand and if you order it early in the morning, in theory it will be there the next day (for an additional fee).

I ordered a 2020 refurb with the i7/8GB/1TB/5700 with overnight, but it took a couple of days due to UPS messing up (Apple refunded my expedited shipping fee).

Oh, right.
What was your experience with refurbs? Any signs of previous usage or damage?
The one I'm looking at costs $100 because I got mine through the education store.

No, no signs of use or damage. For all intents and purposes products from Apple's Refurbished store are brand-new a come with Apple's default one year warranty, AppleCare+ eligibility, the same level of support as brand-new products, etc. The only way to tell a refurbished product apart from a brand-new one is the box as refurbished Macs come in a plain white box.

I have bought plenty of iMacs and MacBooks Pro and Air via refurb and they have all worked flawlessly.

Honestly, I'd trust a refurb over a new-in-box because it went through two Quality Assurance passes compared to one for a new-in-box. ;)

I ordered one yesterday but I missed the cutoff so I won’t get it until tomorrow. I got one with more storage capacity.
There were some interesting combinations there…the most basic version with 32gb ram? Ram is the one thing you can upgrade.
