Custom Carrier Logos on 3.1.2 3GS

I have searched all over for what I thought would be a thoroughly explained topic.

I would like to add a custom carrier logo like the AT&T logo with the blue globe on my jb 3.1.2 iphone 3GS. My problem is not getting text, because I can get that with Make It Mine, FakeCarrier, or the Blank Carrier Fixer.

However, no matter what I try with any number or combination of Winterboard themes, I can't get it to display a custom carrier logo.

Anyone else run into this issue before and found a fix?

The carrier logos are saved in this location on the phone.
Dark background icon:

/System/Library/CarrierBundles/ATT_US.bundle
FSO_CARRIER_ATT.png

Light background icon:

/System/Library/CarrierBundles/ATT_US.bundle
Default_CARRIER_ATT.png

If everything else fails you can SSH into the filesystem and replace them with any other graphics you have in mind.
