Yosemite OS X: Custom icons in the doc revert to default after each restart?

So I right click >> get info for the folder (lets use downloads as an example) >> and paste in the custom icon. This works. But only until I restart. Then it goes back to stock blue folder. Mavericks would keep the icon. I tried removing it from the doc and putting it back in place. Any other tricks? Or do I have to just wait until they fix the bug. They need new beta testers.

I can change the application icons with your method without losing them after a reboot. I didn't try it with the folder icons, but if there is anything different, i would recommend to have a look at this site: http://yukiyamashina.github.io/blog...lor-of-default-folder-icons-in-OS-X-Yosemite/
This method should be a permanent solution, because you basically change the default icon of the system.

Thanks bro that did it! I changed the system default folder. The first couple times I restarted I lost a few icons. Then only the downloads folder was the one that kept reverting to default.
