In case anyone is interested I have designed a custom 5,1 PCI fan mount today so just about any GPU will fit, I've been looking at upgrading my 5700 XT (pictured here) to a 6900 XT thanks to the lovely patch made by Syncretic.

My 5700 XT is 306 mm long for reference, GPU's up to at least 350 mm should fit. The mount is slim so it will sit behind the GPU if it's longer.

If there is interest I can upload the mount, it would be free to download and under a non-commercial license, you just need to 3D print it. If you don't have a 3D printer maybe a friend can help you out.

Then just unscrew the stock PCI fan mount, remove the fan (can be fiddly, take your time) and move it over, the connector slides in place and is secure. The mount uses heated M3 inserts but you can use M3 or M4 screws and nuts to secure it as well.

I recommend printing it in heat resistant or even better, flame retardent filament. I've used Prusament PC-CF myself.

Some better pics, I made a reprint so I could make some instructions.

I will try to get it online by tomorrow morning the latest so you can 3D print one yourself.

For info, this post is now included in the sticky cMP upgrade thread -> GPU upgrade section.

Great. :)

I have a few guys around the world (EU, AU and US) who distribute some of my other designs under a "commercial" agreement with me, I will check and see if they are willing to distribute this part too. If so I can link to their shops. That would mean people can buy the part printed with heated M3 inserts in place and included screws at a low price.

Loving seeing things like this - these machines are going to end up being the electro-modded classic cars of the computing world eventually.

Here is my 320 mm Powercolor 6900 XT Red Devil Ultimate installed using this PCI fan mod. Plenty of space left. :) I used a dual mini 6-pin PCI-express cable to 8-pin PCI for the leftmost connector, normal Pixlas mod cables for the other two. This card uses 3 x 8-pin.
