Custom ringtones have very bad quality

Hi,

I have an issue with custom ringtones with my iPhone XS on iOS 13.3.1.

I created some custom ringtones, when i listen one in iOS sound settings and i turn the volume to 100% , the sound is very loud and completely saturated : trebles are very high and bass are low. It looks like an equalizer is applied to the original sound file.

When i turn the volume to 70-80% it's a little better but the sound is not clean and really different from the original. I am very amazed by this bad quality. I don't understand.

To get ringtones, i did several methods :

1/ With Music app on MacOS Catalina :

- I import a mp3 file in Music app ;
- I convert it in AAC version ;
- I change extension in m4r ;
- I import the m4r file in iOS ;

2/ With GarageBand (iOS and MacOS)

3/ Download of m4r files (created by others) on specific websites

4/ Purchase on Apple tone store

Always the same thing. Ringtones have a very bad quality.

Which is strange, when i put the m4r file on icloud and i listen it from iPhone (with Files app) the sound is good like the original. The issue is ONLY when i listen it from the ringtones settings (preview) or when the phone ringing if i define the custom ringtone.

Moreover, the issue is not present when i listen the custom ringtone from tone text settings (sms/notifications) and the sound is good !

Have you an idea please ?

Has anyone noticed that custom ringtones don't have the same quality as the original mp3 file ?

@snayam Yeah bro, exactly the same with my iPhone XS Max. The curious thing is that ringtone i created on my previous iPhone sounds good even on XS. But all other ringtones not.
