Hi,

I have a quick question regarding getting custom (non-itunes store purchased) ringtones to work on an iOS 5 iPhone 4 that doesn't sync with a computer.

Previously, I would have done this by obtaining an M4R file, placing it in the Ringtones folder for iTunes to see and syncing my iPhone with my Computer and therefore transferring it.

However, with the arrival of iOS 5 and iTunes match last year, I have no reason to sync my iPhone with my computer. How do I now get custom M4R files as ringtones on my iPhone?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Please remember, patience is a virtue...*sigh*

Hello everyone,

I want to make custom ringtones for my iphone. I've done EVERYTHING the other posts said to do...create the AAC version, drag it to my desktop, rename m4a to m4r, dropped it in the "tones" part of itunes, connected my iphone to my laptop and synced the two...but when I look for my :15 second ringtone in my iphone's ringtone choices, the custom one isn't there.

I'm using Windows 7, itunes 10.6.3.25, and my iphone software is v.5.1.1

Suggestions, anyone? Your time spent responding is VERY appreciated, thanks.

You don't have to drag the tone into the phone. I'm not aware of dragging a tone into the iPhone to get it to sync.

For Windows you just click on file>add file to library>find the file you want to add to library and either double click it or single click the file>then click ok. The file should now appear in your itunes library. From there select your iphone>select tones>make sure your ringtone is selected then sync your phone.

I'm a windows user. If you have any questions please ask :)
