I have a jailbroken 3G iphone running 2.0.1. Is there a way to create custom sounds for my sms (rather than the ones found on customize?) I used to use a program called "ringtones" i believe that would let you use a song from the iphone and make a snippet into the sms sound. Anything like that in the new installer or cydia? Or is there a way to use FTP to send it?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you can do it through open SSH, you'll need an FTP applications on your computer and open SSH in your iPhone, and you should be able to replace those files that you want

Actually if you use winterboard and upgrade to the latest version released a few days ago you can now install customer UISounds with a theme. What you have to do is the following:

If you have a theme already just add a new folder to the theme folder called UISounds and place in there .caf files (Quicktime is a good way to make these) for the name of the sound you want to replace. If you don't use a custom theme then create a new folder called "My Sounds" or whatever and do the same steps as above for the UISounds folder. Go into winterboard and enable that Sounds theme and boom custom themes.

Below is a list of file names for reference so you can follow it.

Great tip...thx! Being able to change system sounds via winterboard is great!

What is the path for the theme folder?
