Hey

I have a TV Show where before each episode there is a commercial for the network and a catch-up from last week - takes about 1:30 from the start of the show

If I sat down and set custom start times for each episode, does that information get relayed to the AppleTV?

I don't want to spend hours doing it and find it doesn't play on the TV.

Thanks in advance

You can set chapter markers using metax or subler and when you tag it the apple tv will be able to see where you set it.

If there are no chapter markers I believe the apple tv sets chapters every x:xx. Not sure on the exact number

Oh, I meant the Start/Stop times under the 'Options' tab in Get Info.
Don't really want to meddle with the metadata.

Yes, the ATV can and will use the start and stop times that you set under "get info" in iTunes. HOWEVER and it's a big however, this information is not stored in the video file so if you ever remove your videos from iTunes and then re-add them you will also need to redo all of the times again.

As MCRunning said it would be far better to re-tag them with a chapter marker in the correct place so you can just skip over the beginning part, that way it becomes part of the file and you will never have to re-add it again.
