Custom text/message tones revert to default tone

Whenever I set a custom message tone for a person, it will work for a while, then revert to the default message tone. The custom tone can be one I made using Music or it can be one I bought from Apple Music. Doesn’t matter. It flops to default sooner or later.

Am I the only one with this? If so, then what am I missing?
