Hi guys,

I am wanting to find where I can enable an automatic screensaver for users of a system. I am using MDM with Microsoft Intune. I am looking to find somewhere I can customise this setting in the Mac profile. I am sure this is possible to be done, I am just not sure where to find it.

something like : enable_screensaver = true, time_screensaver = 600

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If you want to build Profiles, there are several good tools. You can do it manually....but I would not try myself. The best free tool I know of is Profile Creator (use the download lower on the page).

If you are new to creating Profiles....words of advice:

  • Test, test, test before deploying.
  • Keep them simple, and modular; trying to get everything just right in the fewest profiles is the least modular, and the most problematic.
  • If you name later versions the same (if there are changes or fixes) it is easier to replace them.
Lots of Profiles here.

Thanks heaps for getting back to me, did you know where exactly in profile builder I might be able to do this?

ProfileCreator has screensaver profile presets. I haven't used Intune but the link in the previous post tells how to upload a custom profile into Intune. Intune may also have a way to directly manage screensavers, but I've never used it.
There's no need to use Configurator to generate your custom configuration profiles.

Yep.

1. You wanna make a new profile by hitting the + button on the top left.
2. Scroll down to the Mac section, and keep going to the Screensaver section.
3. in the Screensaver section, click the + to add the keys you want to set (some or all).
4. Once the keys are added, and are on the top of the window, set the parameter for each as you want it.
5. When done, hit the Add button to add the section to the profile.
6. Set the General parameters and save.
