Customizable control center

Maybe I’m just not seeing it but why isn’t anyone going crazy about the customizable control center? It seemed like everyone wanted it and now that it’s here no one has even mentioned it?

Same thing with the one handed keyboard for the iPhone.

I like the new sliders for the volume and brightness. Seems more user friendly to scroll up/down versus horizontally.

I'd agree, but I wish they hadn't removed the Night Shift button to accommodate them.

Means an extra step for me to manually engage the feature.

I actually didn't realize they removed the night shift button. I always liked manually adjusting that when need be. Thanks For pointing this out.

Yes, you can long press the brightness slider and the Night Shift toggle is within there, but now an extra step.

At least it's still accessible from control center, I thought you meant they entirely removed it from control center. Good to know.

The new control center is atrocious - terrible UI, not space efficient, and the grouping of things is illogical. Forcing people to use 3D touch and adding unnecessary steps to complicate workflows isn't my idea of a refinement. It looks very ugly in my opinion. The customization aspect is welcome, but no idea why the list of options exists the way it is - if it were truly customizable, there should have been more granular control on the list of toggles and tasks.

I can't attest to the control center, as I'm not a beta tester. But it definitely looks more polluted Than it did before. But as I mentioned before, I do like the vertical sliders for the brightness and volume.

And an iOS 10, 3D Touch can be disabled. But I can't speak for iOS 11 on that.

Yep, the overall design, layout and organization makes no sense whatsoever. What happened to Apple's vaunted design philosophy and user experience prowess? Just look at how quick toggles work on Android - absolutely leapfrogs the iOS implementation.

Maybe Apple is seeding the ground and planning to open up control centre to third party apps in iOS 12? I would love to be able to launch PCalc instead of the stock calculator app.

I so agree with you there. Is horrible.

Design is bad indeed and takes up so much screen space. It's partly customisable. I also don't like it that you can select third party apps or third party quick actions to be there. I will currently stick to my third party Launcher/Magic Launcher widget in the Notification Center although were asked to remove it a few months ago but luckely the existing URL schemes for Settings still work (or at least in iOS10 with these third party widgets).

Indeed I would rather see also the option to adjust the size of the CC quick actions and to be them all pretty much the same size or at least give us the customisation what we would like to see in CC right away (e.g. wifi name, bluetooth device name, current music track).
Also what I don't get is why you can't see instantly your current wifi name or bluetooth device(s). I also wonder what happens if you click on it if it switches to WIFI Settings and the different WIFI/Bluetooth connections that are available. I don't own 3D Touch devices so I want to see things instantly.

I sure hope not. I really expected to finally see (third party) apps and their URL scheme actions in CC as well. I'm already waiting for such a feature ever since iOS8 when I started using the Launcher widget in the Notification Center to compensate for this.

Who is forced to use 3D Touch? Also how many people haven't used right-click in their lifetime? I'm guessing not many. I never hear complaints about that.

No one is forced to use 3D Touch, however for non 3D Touch users/devices it would be nice to have as less steps as possible to achieve/see something such as which WIFI you are connected to and easily switch between them.

Hmm not sure what you mean. BT/Wi-Fi etc are featured and standard in CC. The other options are there for people to use of them if they want. It’s optional

You are referring to the ability to simply toggle those. I am referring to having a shortcut to the settings for BT and Wifi. And having a toggle for VPN would be appreciated as well. The optional shortcuts for CC are a short list, and most are not useful for me. They could have shortcuts to so many more areas of the phone.

I Agree with you there (again)!

Have you all noticed that the latest beta lacks suddenly a feature which the previous version had as far as WIFI and Bluetooth is concerned (for what I've read about it e.g. in this and this topic)? I don't think this is a good thing and I sure hope they change that feature again.

Q: What did they do?
A: The Bluetooth and WIFI button now only close the connection with the current device(s)/network but the bluetooth/WIFI stays active.
