Dear Team,

I have searched Google and every where in the internet and i can't find the solution for customizing my reply header in the mail.app.

Please let me know whether we can customize the reply in the mail.app or not.

Let me explain clearly. Generally if i reply to the email the reply header part will look like as below,

Subject: Hello World

So please let me know whether there are any addon or scripts available to do that. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply Dewguy.

The link which you have provided is for removing the quote but i want to add the quote in the reply as it appears like while forwarding. any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

I kind of thought with some tinkering you might be able to change it to something more like what you're looking to do.

Thanks

I didn't know what your level of usage was, some people practically live in Terminal and others like me (and apparently you) stay clear of it. The only other thing that I can think of is looking at what's available at Hawk Wings - Plug-ins for Apple Mail (if you haven't already) to see if there's anything available.

Edit: One more thing that I just thought of...what if you were to choose Forward instead of Reply, I believe that would give you the headers that you're looking for and you could change the Fwd: in the subject line to Re:, would that work for you?

Dear Dew,

Thanks for your reply. I have seen your edited quote but it misses the address of the email in the to field. I am still searching for this kind of tool i will search it in the link you have provided and let u know is there any thing. In the meanwhile let me know if you have found any thing.

Thanks

sorry to bump

sorry to bump an old thread...

i'm having the same problem, and i have a nagging feeling that the answer is quite simple, here's why:

I only recently got my first mac, and when I opened mac mail for the first time, it asked me a bunch of configuration questions. one of them asked me to choose a reply style...

option 1 had a technical name (that I forgot) with "oulook style" in parentheses,

while option 2 had a technical name (that I forgot) with "gmail style" in parentheses...

I'm not sure what to do, short of restoring mail app to factory settings...if that's even possible...

any ideas?

thank you.

I'm not sure I understand what you're looking for, the OP was asking about modifying the headers but your message is referring to reply style, if you want to change the reply style you should be able to do that through the preferences.
