customizing icons

So I've gotten the gist of it, the whole copy and paste in the info window, but does anyone know how to make it work with icons that change when you open the program, such as iCal or NetNewsWire...it shows the icon i pasted before I open the program, but then the new date or counter comes up w/the old icon, and the old icon stays after i quit. strange that it's not the same case w/OS X Mail and the new message counter...

Try removing the application from your Dock then adding it again with the new icon.

I'm not sure about iCal though as I don't use it - it may not be that simple for 'dynamic' icons.

I have tried, that, but was hoping there was a way around it... thanks though.
