I'm trying to select a folder a cut in the finder and when I go to edit --> Cut on the finder and try to cut after I click once on the item it is shaded out. Any ideas?

Thank You!

Macs won't let you cut folders...it would be too easy to lose them if you copy something else to the clipboard. Within a volume, you can move them around by dragging them or copy them by using alt-drag.

I've always wondered about the Cut command on the Mac. I can never seem to cut and paste anything. I usually end up dragging-and-dropping or copy-and-pasting and then deleting.

What are you talking about? Cut and Paste works for essentially everything except in the Finder. And it works there in situations like if you want to copy the name of a file.
