Now, we all know how awesome cut, copy & paste is on the iPhone. Before iPhoneOS 3.0, I wondered how often I'd use it, and many naysayers have claimed that it's "not that big a deal".
Well, seeing as it's not such a big deal, Palm & RIM must have also nailed their implementation, right?

BlackBerry Storm 2's version:
We have a slang term here in London for that process: "LONG". :D
I don't know about you, but if I'd used that once, I'd be so pi$$ed off, that I'd never use it again, lol.

Palm Pre's version:
That's better than the Storm 2 version, but for something dismissed as "so simple", it's still a bit long, lol.
Plus, I'm not sure how comprehensive both versions are(working across other apps, keeping the formatting, ect.)

iPhone 3.0 version:
:apple:

Indeed TBF I'd class myself as one of those people who didn't think CCP was that big of a deal - but because of the iPhone's implementation of it I'm finding I use it multiple times in a day.

Dunno about the Pre - haven't got one but it sure as hell didn't look particularly simple to copy/paste anything and as for the storm - that demo is truly a joke! I'd have chucked the phone against the wall and gone for a run crying.

You may have to wait an outrageously long time for 'simple' features on the iPhone but at least when they do turn up, they work pretty good.

Wow. Can't wait for the BB2 to come out and rock my cut, copy, and paste world! Woo!

I am almost in tears laughing at these! I might even bookmark the first video so when i'm feeling "blue" i can get a good laugh..... Kind of reminds me of the "boom goes the dynomite" TV sports caster guy in indiana for some reason (very uncomfortable to watch, but funny as heck)....

i kind of feel sorry for this guy: Like watching a train wreck!!

what was the first guy thinking? I'm really glad he posted it, but wonder if he knew how bad it was when he posted it.... a truly honest review i guess!! :D
and the palm!! give me a break.... iPhone killers just aren't well thought out yet.......

Now i know i'm late the the game with my 3gs but like most of the stuff that apple puts out it's always polished........

edit: it took the guy like 2 freakin minutes to copy and pasty.... (crying laughing still on the rewatch)

I'll wait for droid

YES! Finally someone that talks sense here. This 'droid' commercial just OOZES usability and stability. Looking at that commercial makes me dream about how fantastic Droid will be.

Look at the grunge style and mysterious looking logo. FANTASTIC MARKETING, PEOPLE.

Exactly.

The problem people have is they assume that the "outrageously long time" they wait is because Apple hates them.

These videos show that this stuff is hard to get right and the long wait might be because it takes Apple that long to get it right!

everyone knows that the Storm is a joke. C/C/P on a QWERTY BlackBerry is easy as pie, however, and has been for years.

Lol at the blackberry. Palm Pre is not bad, but also way too many steps. Great how Apple implented the Cut, Copy & Paste feature.

Still looks like the same vanilla blackberry touch screen as before....also anyone notice that allot of the verizon phones instead of saying "Ev" it says "3G"? I think there doing it to make there 3G network look better because it seams that AT&T advertises there's more...

Unbelievable! That was like nails on a chalkboard to witness.

Personally, C&P was the most critical improvement for myself. I use it well over 20 times per day.

Wow.. videos like this really remind me why we have iPhones.

The pain looks familiar.

Reminds me of scrolling forum topics on mobile Safari, and accidentally clicking a link you didn't want... then having to stop the page load if you can... then going backward, which on the iPhone usually means waiting while it reloads the previous page... then you can try scrolling again.

And all you wanted to do, was to scroll to the bottom of the stupid page.

Every device has its own set of Achilles' Heels.

I hate that...or how if you switch tabs to copy and paste a link or block of text in a post and go back it reloads the page making you loose your entire page...I hate that so much.

That was ACTUALLY very painful to watch. I can't ACTUALLY believe that RIM would ACTUALLY call that a benefit of the phone. I would ACTUALLY prefer to shoot myself than ACTUALLY use such a feature. ;)

Yeah, it's so awesome when I'm jamming out with Pandora and I get a text message, and then all of a sudden my music cuts out because I decided to respond to my text message. Total ease of use.

Oh wait.
Functionality beats ease of use in my book. Always has, always will. If you're using a 'smart phone', you should want functionality. Yeah, easy to use is nice. But when it's pretty much dumbed down to the point that it's idiot- proof (such as the Iphone), functionality gets lost, so the end user who just wants an "easy to use phone" doesn't get overwhelmed with complicated buttons and commands :( Mind you, I use an android handset to be used as my 'smart'phone. My Iphone is my mutimedia/play phone.

You seem to be missing the point of this thread.

Which is - the CCP implementation on the BB Storm isn't functional.

Which means - it doesn't work.

You want more buttons or complicated commands, go ahead.

I'll stick with my one button iphone and icons that do what I want them to.

I don't know if any of you realized, but one of the people who commented said he was doing it wrong.

He was putting 2 fingers down at the same time instead of one after the other.

Yup. User commented this:
You aren't doing it correctly. To copy and paste, put one finger down where you want to start copying, and then put the other finger down where want to end copying. Then move the indicators. You don't put two fingers down at the same time. Same functionality in the original storm. To zoom in in broswer, just double tap the screen, don't click; you wont have issues of hitting links this way. Same functionality found in the original too........

Also, palms isn't that bad. Hold Alt and you can select. Then that touch thing on the bottom works like Ctrl, and you do the shortcuts like on a computer.
