My daughter was over yesterday and said, "Look at this." My granddaughter, Logan, 1 and 1/2, had gotten up on the desk chair and was typing at the keyboard of my Imac. Last night I went to look something up on google and saw that I was typing in what appeared to be arabic. I thought that if I restarted the imac I would get it back to default settings. No such luck and now I can't login as my password won't be accepted. I have tried com, alt, control and shift along with the space bar, both together and sequentially with no luck. How do I get back to english?

When I put in the install disk nothing happens. When I restart, with and without holding down command, control or the letter c it just brings me back to the login screen which I can't get past. I have mac osx 10.4 disc although I had updated the software to 10.5.

It may be the keyboard. When I tried that last solution, nothing happened. As soon as I heard the chime I pressed down command and s but it just went through the restart and brought me back to the log in screen.

My account is the administrator account and I have a standard account for my wife. When I enter through her account, which is not password protected I can access the startup disk. When I go through utilities to try and get to passwords I am locked out and can't get in.

When I am in her account I can type in and see the result. What is the most likely combination that my granddaughter hit to switch the language.

I don't have another keyboard around and would rather spend a 1/2 hour trying different combos to see if I can get back to english at this point as nothing else has worked.

Thanks.

Trying to restore the keyboard was not successful at this point. I realized, however, that the result is not arabic. J is a triangle, a is an a with a little dot above it, so it is some other thing, not a language, going to get a keyboard now.
