Apple mentioned cycling cadence, speed and power monitoring during the WWDC keynote. I've got a cadence/speed sensor that I've been able to get working using a 3rd party app. Is this functional yet in the workout app or Fitness+?

I would love to see a screenshot of the results of a cycling workout using these sensors in the ios17 workout app .

I believe they said it was in the workout app on the Apple Watch. I’m able to connect to my watch and data shows in Fitness app on my phone.

How did you connect the cadence sensor to your watch? Also, I hope it will work with Fitness+.

To connect a bluetooth device, on the watch go to Settings, then Bluetooth while your bluetooth sensor is in pairing mode. Select your device from the list to connect. Once connected, you'll have to add the power/cadence metrics to the watch screen. To do this, select the 3 dots on your activity (mine was indoor cycle). Scroll to the bottom to 'Preferences'. Select Workout Views. Edit your view on the first screen to show Cadence/Power. There are also separate screens dedicated to Power and Power Zones you can activate.

Awesome, thanks. I got it working with the watch. Unfortunately, it only works in a regular cycling workout, not in Fitness+

That's what I thought too and was quite disappointed... But you can actually see cadence & speed in the workout detail when it's done. An update will hopefully bring live cadence & speed in Fitness +
