I'm wondering what others are doing in this situation.
When I ride, my cycling computer handles all the Strava integration. The reason I use this besides convenience is it shows me live segment info (it's a Lezyne). What I've also been doing is starting a cycling workout on the watch so that it records HR and gives me workout credit.
When looking at the Activity App it shows both the Strava workout and the Workout App workout but doesn't give me double credit which I don't want. In the past I've been deleting the Workout App activity an only keeping the Strava activity. The reason for this is if both are started then the HR info is also in the Strava data but if I don't start the Workout App then the HR is not recorded.
Do others use both apps or just one.

I use only the workout app. Distance and caloric burn are my two main areas of interest. I just set my Apple Watch cycling workout screen to multiple metric to include distance, active calories, time and speed. I check all of the other stats and maps post workout.

Side note HR is also an area of interest but I’ve read somewhere having it on your workout screen drains battery and during a 30-40 miler, I prefer to use the least amount of battery possible.

Just an update to this.
I stopped using the Apple workout app during cycling because I didn’t want to deal with duplicates. I was only using my Lezyne computer to track everything which updates Strava which then updates the workout app. It was ok but didn’t record HR data and Strava has a duplication bug that they refuse to fix.

This week I came across an app called HealthFit. It’s purpose is to sync data across multiple fitness apps/sites. There are a lot of choices in the app but I’m only concerned with Apple Activities App and Strava.

Now the process is this. I start the workout on my Apple Watch. After it is complete the HealthFit app transfers all the data to Strava with all the Apple metrics.
My only issue is I’m dealing with some sort of bug that isn’t doing the update in the background like it’s supposed to. Instead it’s only updating when I open HealthFit. I’m working with the developer to figure out why this is happening.
