Hey guys,

I jailbroke my iPhone 3G and installed Cycorder among other things. My question is:

Is there any way to upload the video content from Cycorder to iMovie, ect. on my mac?

I'm sure there's a way to do this but I have yet to figure it out

Any advice would be appreciated!

not from the app no. just browse to the movie directory (don't remember the exact path off the top of my head) via ssh and copy it to your mac.

Yes there is!

Depending on what you use to SSH; you can find the file on your phone after you make a recording and simply drag and drop it out of your phone into your desired folder. I use diskaid to ssh, if you need the path just let me know. ;)

Thank you IBradMac, you're always there to help a MR brother in need!

I use diskaid as well...could you show me the path for how to accomplish this?

There is a much easier way. Go to Cydia and get PPVideo Enabler

Open PPVideo, Check mark the Cycorder box (only need to do this once)

Reboot or respring the phone

Now when you sync your phone with iPhoto, movies are also imported into iPhoto.

Drag movies into iMovie.

@ IBradMac and dhlizard: Thanks guys! Tried both methods and they work well...PPVideo is a great program, thanks for the heads up! :)

Just came across your post today and have been trying to find an alternative way to do this other that SSH'ing video files to desktop/folders and this sounds perfect.

Followed your instructions - PPVideo (+ have check marked the Cycorder box as you said) and downloaded Pixel Pipe form itunes(as advised to by PPVideo in Cydia) Have resprung but for some reason movies are not being imported from Cycorder into iPhoto when I sync.

Just wondering if there is something I have missed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as it would be great to get this done.

Apolgies - please ignore my last post as have managed to locate the Authenticate Pixelpipe account in settings on the iphone and all is good now.

Appreciate the tip - will save time not having to SSH into the iphone all the time

Thank you

Just so you know, PixelPipe has nothing to do with movies being imported into iphoto. Once you enable PPVideo, that will cause it to happen.

PixelPipe allows posting of photos and movies directly from iPhone.

Thanks man - as it turns out the PixelPipe app is not bad actually and good for some other things I'm working on.

But your tip for PPVideo was awesome! Just imported a whole bunch of vids to iPhoto - and without having to SSH. Works perfectly!

Appreciate the reply aswell

so i just d/led the PPV app....checked both boxes to 'on' then reboot. made a video using cycorder...then sync'd my iphone.. opened iphoto and didnt see the vid there.

am i missing a step? please help

thanks

NEVERMIND...FIGURED IT OUT MYSELF..PEACE

that is wrong....the correct path is;

/private/var/mobile/Media/DCIM/CycorderVideos/

On mine it has always been in /private/var/mobile/Media/Videos

Does it make a difference which iPhone and JB method someone has used? I have a 3G running 3.1.2 and PwnageTool to jailbreak. In my phone's DCIM it has the 100APPLE folder with pictures taken with the camera. Nothing else though.

Hi, quick question, is there anyway to make cycorder name the files in some other way rather than IMG*, the thing is when I use video toggl it overwrites the pictures that have been taken with the same name, so I was thinking if they were named like MOV* or something that wouldn't happen.

Ps: That would work if you could make the iphone change the naming of hte pictures...

Thanks.

They should be in the .mov format. At least mine have always been that way. The file name is a long number followed by .mov so I have no conflicting file names. I wonder why your copy of cycorder is using a different file format?

Sorry I think I explained it wrong. The thing is that they both are named for example: IMG_0001.png for the first pic taken and IMG_0001.mov for the first video recorded, so when you put them both the iphone thinks it's just one.
Is there anyhow to change either of them?

Oh I see what you mean. :) Sorry I miss understood. I'm not sure if there's a way to change the way it names them.

Even though I understand what you're saying cycorder doesn't name them like that on my phone. My file names look like 1256431750.mov and the 125643 beginning is always the same. The last four digits are always random. I'm really not sure if what mine does is normal or if what's happening to yours is the more common way. I don't know anyone else I could check this with in person. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable in this area will be able to help figure this out.

That's actually what PPVEnabler does. It moves them to that folder. That's why they get uploaded with iPhoto, because iPhoto uploads the DCIM folder. :D You'll see a Symblink at /private/var/mobile/media/Videos that takes you to the CycorderVideos folder. Because Cycorder looks for the /media/Videos folder but that is now only a link so they get placed in the DCIM subfolder. :D

Cycorder does not save videos name that. They are only numbers with no IMG. But no, there is no way to change them.

I looked into this, because if you use iFile and DO rename one of the Cycorder videos to IMG_9999.MOV (Note I used large numbers so there is no conflict with the camera and I made the extension all caps) and put it in the DCIM folder you can access the videos in Camera Roll to edit them or whatever.

Also, Cycorder video files are being named so there will never be a conflict at the moment. Each file name is the Unix time that it was recorded. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix_time

Vivid. Do you know of a way to upload videos moved to the DCIM folder to twitter from a 3G?
