hi,
first of all i am running an iphone 3G on iOS 3.1.2. It is jailbroken and software unlocked. My problem is that everytime I start cydia, cydia crashes and i am back at the home screen. i googled and found solutions to this issue but this only works if you are able to access the "var" folder on the iphone. for this I downloaded the iphonebrowser and also tried iexplorer and both will show an errormessage on startup. for example in iexplorer:

"Unable to start the iPhone listener process. This error may occur because iTunes is not installed./r/n/r/n Error Code: The dll "itunesMobileDevice.dll"..."

is there any solution to this? i couldnt find one on google. ;(
or is there maybe another program which accesses the iphone files in a different way. I only need to get into some root folder to delete a source from cydia so that it stops crashing.

its crazy how complicated this is. :S

thanks for any help in advance.
cheers,
peacer

btw I am using windows 7.

Yes it is installed. Tried ifunbox and there is no error message but i cant access the var folder. This is due to some add file which is downloadable on cydia. But as i cant start cydia i cant install it. Has anyone a solution to this?

Afc2add is what you're referring to. Newer jailbreaks include root access so afc2add is unnecessary. Unfortunately you can't install the deb file for afc2add because the cydia folder is located in var>root>media.

Hmmm I'll do some digging around to see if I can find a solution for you. I've never had that problem.

thanks for your help.
i couldn't believe that nobody has the same problem. i didn't want to change the iOS bcause i need this iphone unlocked. the only way to unlock it, without the need to pay my old serviceprovider, is the software unlock.
so now my question is, is it possible to jailbreak it again with redsn0w without losing the unlock?
or could i upgrade to a newer iOS and jailbreak it and unlock it? and how would that work, without having problem with itunes bcause of the activation and so on?

(btw which of the newer ones is still good for the iphone 3G, i heard that the newest iOS for the 3G, makes it very slow)

sorry, many questions but this is a big issue for me right now. ;)

cheers,

I have an iPhone 4G using redsn0w and last month cydia of my iphone properly crashed. I unable to download any app. All faculties are disabled. At that time, I read about ultrasnow. They suggested me to iPhone restoration and then use for ultrasnow unlocking and jailbreaking tool. And now I'm tension free because my iPhone works good.
