iPhone Cydia messed me up, wth!

Most apps seem to require minimum of firmware 4.3 nowadays.

I've got a jailbroken iPhone 4 running 4.2.1. So I decided it's time to update.
Researched for literally the last 2 days and found out I need SHSH blobs which Cydia was supposed to save.

I open Cydia and the SHSH blobs are listed at the top: 4.2.1 thru 5.0.1, 6.0.1.

I use Tiny Umbrella and it shows only 6.0.1 is saved.

Why is Cydia showing all those blobs and TU can only pull up 6.0.1?!

I've also tried using redsnow and the 'Query' option shows that I do have the firmwares that Cydia listed but there are no shsh files on my computer.

what does this mean? I'm lost and sick of researching this.

Thanks for replying.

It did verify the one and only 6.0.1 .shsh file, and a pop up showing "All 6 blobs verified for ECID #, APTicket is present and valid"

but where are the other blobs?

Email saurik - he's usually able to help people out.

seriously - he might be able to pull the SHSHs from his server. Send him an e-mail.
 
Would it be a good idea just to run redsn0w -> extra -> restore -> 5.0.1 -> remote blobs? if it works it works? I am assuming you want to update to 5.0.1

I repeatedly tried 'remote blobs' but I keep getting an error saying "unable to contact TSS server'

yet TinyUmbrella CAN access TSS server.
 
Might be something blocking communication to cydias server or possible blocked ports or maybe firewall, software or antivirus program on the particular computer or network.
I'd try on another computer or different location.
If the blobs are displayed up there on top of cydias page they can be downloaded and saved locally for everyone but you.

I turned off firewall and redsnow was able to remote locate the shsh blobs. Thanks!

It's still odd that TinyUmbrella can't locate the shsh files. Nor can I find it on my computer.

Anyway thanks guys, it's now running 5.0.1:D
