anyone having issues with cydia updating sources?

I restored 3.1.2 and jailbroke last night was working fine now today it's just staying at downloading packages and it's been like this now for 5 mins and I only have the bare bones of sources in cydia as you would a fresh install, I have restore today about 3 times but it's still just hanging at downloading packages, I have also cancelled the updating and it says it failed to fetch modmyi, bigboss, saurik.com, zodttd and says some index files failed to download.

If I add a source same thing happens, it downloads a couple packages then when the bar fills with blue it stays there saying downloading packages.

maybe try using rock instead of cydia? its a lot faster, offers more features, doesnt crash like cydia, and is more stable.

Sounds like a problem with one of the repositories. I would give it a bit and see if it clears up. And don't use Rock.

could well be never thought about that..... why do you say no to rock? I've never used it like but I have heard people talk about it

It has some nice features and is very pretty, but it causes lots of problems on people's phones. It installs a buggy forked version of MobileSubstrate called RockExtensions which can conflict with MS. It doesn't use Apt to manage packages from its store. It can definitely conflict with Cydia.

Jay Freeman (Saurik) recommends against Rock, saying it causes all kinds of problems. He also says that a lot of his support requests are ultimately traced to Rock.
