I recently purchased a Nikon D80 with a Nikkor 18-70mm 1:3.5-4.5G lens and love it but for one problem. For some reason, when in all of the auto settings, landscape, macro, portrait, the camera over exposes the pictures. They start looking washed out and the colors are not represented properly.

I have the latest in firmware and have consolidated the manuel but haven't solved it.

Anyone else have this problem or know of a solution?

Thanks in advance!

Auto can sometimes do this when you have Matrix metering on. Try using Exposure Compensation or using S, A, and M modes to get a desired shutter speed and aperture.

If your still learning the basics, i would suggest buying some Digital Photography books or videos to help teach you.
