I'm looking into buying a new IMac or Macbook PRO for editing/coloring/etc, but I'm pretty technologically clueless and have trouble wrapping my head around most of the info out there. I want to be able to run Davinci Resolve 12.5 (the free version for now, but eventually I'd like to buy the full version (14), so I wanna make sure the specs for the 27inch iMac I'm looking at is sufficient:

3.3GHz Processor
2TB Storage

  • 3.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor
  • Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
  • 8GB (two 4GB) memory, configurable up to 32GB
  • 2TB Fusion Drive1
  • AMD Radeon R9 M395 with 2GB video memory
  • Retina 5K 5120-by-2880 P3 display

Thanks a lot for helping out..

Note that the iMac and the MBP cannot be configured the same. If you get an MBP, get it configured how you want, as there's no upgrading. Your iMac spec looks like more than enough, but I recommend at least 16GB to start.
