I have 2 Mac-minis. One M1 2020 running current OS and the other is a 2012 running 10.15.7 Catalina. Neither recognizes my new Musical Fidelity MX-DAC. They each have seen it once for about 10 seconds, then it goes away (not to be seen again) and is not visible in the "Audio Midi Setup" or System Preferences>Sound. I have tried two different and different quality USB cables. I have seen this mentioned twice before with a different brand of DAC, one very expensive and one very inexpensive, but I have seen no solutions. I do have a small less expensive dac that is recognized. I also can get the DAC to connect to PS4 for video sound. Any ideas? It is driving me crazy.

Where did you see it for that 10 seconds? Have you looked at the System Report and USB?
On each it showed up briefly in Audio Midi Setup as an output device and under Sound in what was System Preferences and now is System Settings in Ventura. When I view the USB ports, it is not listed. My monitor, mouse, and keyboard are listed.

Have you contacted the MX-DAC manufacturer?
Unfortunately easier said than done. They direct everything through their dealers and I did contact their dealer. I should know later on today if their dealer was able to get any information that will be helpful.
