Hi folks,

I taught my father how to tether his iPhone to use his unlimited China Mobile data connection with his MBA, however, since then (a couple days ago), he has been getting freeze ups during tethering, or just out of the blue without the iPhone being attached. For example, all of the sudden, the mouse button (left and right click) would fail to respond, while the cursor freely moves. A restart would only fix the problem. My father claims that this freezing deal came after he started tethering his iPhone 3GS (factory unlocked, 3.1.3) a couple of days ago.

I've used his iPhone and tethered (USB) to my mbp without a problem.

Do you guys have any ideas what we can do?

Thanks!

I never had any problems with Bluetooth tethering with my 3GS 3.1.3 and my Rev B.

What rev MBA does he have?

I believe he has the Rev. B? It is a MBA 2.1, 1.6ghz, 2gb of RAM.

I've reset the SMC, ran Yasu (like Onyx) on it, if it doesn't fix it I will probably do a fresh install. He is tethering from the USB cable.

Thanks for your input, hopefully I'll get this figured out.

Does the issue happen over Bluetooth too or just USB?

I appreciate the response.

It occurred during USB tethering, I have not tried bluetooth yet.

I have reinstalled Snow Leopard, hopefully the problem has gone away. Dad's Air has acted glitchy, a reinstall was due.
